Oldies but Goodies

I was babysitting 2 cute girls today--ages 12 and 8.  Our day consisted of lounging by the pool {after we ate a Temptation Cupcake ---heavenly!}...seriously, am I really getting paid for this?!

During the car ride to the Aquatic Center, Halle (age 12) asks if I've heard this song {Hit Me Baby One More Time} before.  Really?  Duh.  So I continue to ask her some other classics of my day like, say N'Sync or Backstreet Boys.  Nope!

Then I ask her what her favorite song of all time is: Grenade or Pokerface.  Pop music has really transformed from "Quit playing games with my heart" ------>"Take a bullet straight to my brain...yes I would die for you baby..." over the last 15 years.  To be honest, I miss the boy bands.

All of my childhood hits are now considered the oldies.

I knew this day would come.  I just didn't think it would happen until I was older...does this mean that i'm old?

Country Music

love country music for many reasons--they sing about America, Jesus, love, and other stories.  Sure there's the occasional "Whiskey for my Men, Beer for my Horses" songs but I think they mostly have good messages.  Since I love all these things, this type of music floods my radio and iPod.

Today, God has been slowly pushed out of our society.  It makes me sad to see fellow American citizens not say the Pledge of Allegiance and for the bible to be kicked out of courtrooms.  It is sad to hear people so passionate about getting rid of "In God We Trust" on our currency.  Our country was founded by good Christian men who believed in God.  My fourth graders and I honor those men every morning as we pledge to that beautiful flag.

So...

It makes me very happy to see a You Tube video (with millions of hits) of Carrie Underwood (my fav) singing a classic hymn and receiving a standing ovation for it.  I think I belong in Nashville.  Thank you, country music, for always making great music!

Bieber

Last Saturday, while the husbands were out shooting guns...the wives went shopping and to check out Never Say Never (aka Justin Bieber Movie).

You can decide who's day was more fun.  Let's just say we all walked in expecting to be entertained and left with a bad case of

Bieber Fever.

We couldn't stop talking about it for the rest of the night.  None of use knew he was actually "talented."  We thought since he was young, had the hair, and the dance moves, that he was new JT.  Now I can't stop get Baby or One Time out of my head.  Help!  I do feel like somewhat of a creep for rocking out to his songs with my 4th graders.  Perhaps it's time for me to get out of this boy band stage in my life.  It's just so much fun to listen to then the everyday country stuff.

I recommend this movie to all, it's so good!

Without the Fine Things in Life

You never know how much you have, until you don't have it anymore.

This is glimpse of life without a working dryer.  The little things, like a working dryer, make life so much more comfortable.  Thank you, Grandma Hall, for your generous donation.  We will never take a working dryer for granted again.

Dear Delta...

                                     Dear
,

We use to be friends and got along great! You provided me with an individual TV screen, allow my bag on for free, a comfortable seat, and (way back in the day) free food...not great food...but do-able.  What's gotten into you?  Over the years you've slowly let me down.

Please feed us something when we fly with you from 3-8 pm...my stomach expects something more hearty than peanuts and sprite for dinner.

Please do your research and understand that we're not getting any smaller these days and would love to be able to exit the plane without indentations, from the seat in front of us, on our knees or a seat that's capable of staying upright. (Love, Justin)

Please entertain us with a movie that people have actually heard of...use NetFlix for a resource.

And...

PLEASE let our 42 lbs of luggage on board so that we look/smell semi decent for our wedding reception tomorrow!!!

Ways to improve: call the owner of the luggage that sits in JFK for 14 hours, use your 1:40 of layover time-- to transport 2 little bags 7 gates away--wisely, fix your broken seats, buy new TV screens that don't flicker or look distorted...or better yet, get rid of them all and get in the tech world, and stop being so selfish and feed us a stinkin sandwich for dinner (I believe this will improve your customer's behaviors).

Love,

You're ex-friend.
