Snow

Snow.  Sure, it's magical and beautiful...sometimes.

It's Justin's other love.  Skiiers/Snowboarders/Sledders dream.  School children's {and teachers} wish.  The plower's job...

But you see, it {RUINED} our field trip yesterday!  To say my fourth graders were excited, would be an understatement.  We were suppose to go on a school bus (this is a big deal for them because they never ride buses) to Salt Lake City to visit the Utah State Capitol Building and the Pioneer Museum.  This was actually our 2nd attempt to go.  Attempt 1 was canceled because of the new Early Out schedule.

Picture this:

- Excited/crazy students{all week} that had to "earn" the opportunity to bring electronics on the bus.
Don't judge. I was losing class mangement...I had to think of something!
- Weeks of lessons on government and the three branches, the governor, Capitol Building, and the pioneers.
- Sacrificing their favorite school lunch--pizza day--for a home packed lunch.
- Bus buddies
- Students bringing in disposable cameras for their big field trip.

There was much excitement yesterday morning and when I received the news that I had to cancel again because of the dang snow...let's just say, I wasn't happy with Mother Nature!  I felt terrible.  I could barely look those little guys in the eyes.  The looks on their faces were as if I'd run over their puppy or something.  The tears soon followed.

Horrible morning...had to turn around the rest of the day.
I racked my brain, along with parent help and put together the funnest day I could possibly think of...our day went as follows:

8:30-9:15 Spanish {this was my time to plan}
9:15-9:45 Play games
9:45-11:15 Walk to the Logan Library...read books, checkout a movie
11:15-12:45 Watch the movie, while eating lunch {didn't want my students smelling pizza day}
12:45-2:45 Took the city bus to USU campus, went to the Anthropology Museum, and walked around campus
2:45-3:00 Change seats {they've been asking for weeks}

This was the best I could do.  I know it wasn't the big adventure of Salt Lake...but at least they left with smiles on their faces again.
